Music Program

Updated: Nov 19, 2019

Who: All cadets are invited

Where: Ottawa Technical Secondary School (485 Donald Street)

When: Friday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00 pm

  • Cadets should arrive between 6:15 and 6:20 pm for sign in and instructions

  • The activity includes three periods: music theory instruction, small ensemble / practical lessons, grand ensemble

What to Bring: Instrument (if you have one), a notebook and pencil, a music stand

Within the band program, cadets will not only learn how to play an instrument. They will also learn music theory, marching as a band (band drill) and playing within an ensemble. For those a little more advanced, they will learn how to teach and mentor other cadets. No music experience is required, however, if you already play music at home or at school, this is a great complimentary program. The more you play, the more you learn.

During the year, our band participates in various events such as The Parade of Lights in Orleans, the Ottawa Toy Parade, cheering at the Army Run, a weekend band festival in Drummondville and in 2019, our very first concert.

The Music Program has 2 main components. Brass and Reed or Pipes and Drums.
